A HUMBLE EXPERIENCE

This past Sunday night, we opened up with prayer and then some praise and worship. We read scripture from the book of John 13:1-17. After reading the word and doing some more praying, we began in our own Youth Footwashing. The Holy Spirit began to move in a very powerful way. Pastor Bill first started washing all of the youth leaders feet and then he and Josh Gentle began washing the youth’s feet. This was just another step that we needed to take to build our spiritual relationship with God. We had several rededications and there were 5 that gave their lives to Christ. PRAISE THE LORD !!! We also wanted to remind all of the youth to bring some friends and get free ice cream. Do not forget about our 3 day fast. We also wanted to say thank you to TEEN CHALLENGE for being such a blessing to us and to our church, for coming and being a part of our worship service. We will keep you guys in our prayers and we are so excited about what God is doing in the teens lives.

I have often heard it said, we limit God by placing Him in a box. The box can be referred to as our way of thinking, our ministry, or simply our mortal bodies. I like The Message translation in II Corinthians 4:7-12 as it reads, If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us. As it is, there’s not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we’re not much to look at. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us. While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!

When we are born again, our lives take on a whole new sense of direction and purpose. We no longer live for ourselves but for the One Who gave us the reason to keep on living. Not to just endure ‘life’ as the world knows it, but to engage in daily participation and devotion with The Almighty; The Only One who can take a devastating situation and turn it completely around for His glory. No other god comes close to that miraculous power and ability.

With that being said, I wonder how much worth we place on the contents of the box we possess? Are we cautious or protective of dispensing it too soon or do we withhold its value from being shared with others for fear of rejection, intimidation or lack of desire or passion? Luke 7:36-50 portrays the deepest of affection for an individual, other than Christ’s sacrificial love for us by His death on the cross. Here, this woman spares no expense in expressing her devotion to Jesus. From the time He arrives, she drenches His feet with her tears unceasingly and uses the locks of her hair to gently yet carefully absorb each and every part.

What are we waiting for? The perfect opportunity? The exact moment in time when God audibly speaks our name? He desires that the box be broken so that the oil may flow excessively. This is the act of pure worship before God. He longs to both empty us of ourselves and at the same time, flow from us in waves of healing and deliverance. Not just for us but for those He has called us to.

He is speaking, and He is saying, “Trust Me. I know your deepest affections and hidden desires concerning what matters most to you and I anticipate your most valuable possession as you lavishly pour it out upon Me!”

MOVING FORWARD

Last night was a great time. We started out with some praise and worship and then a little bit of motivational speaking. Haha…Just kidding… We had an awesome time in our discussion about LOVE. The scriptures that we read from were Galatians 5:13, Romans 15:1 and 2, Luke 14:10 and Philippians 2:3 . They all talked about not being rude and not being self-seeking. We should put our needs behind us and try to think about how God can use us to help others. Jessie Jackson once said, “the only time we should look down on someone is when we are helping them up!”

One of our discussion questions was, ” How can rudeness in a relationship affect your love for God?” We live in such a fast pace world that we really never think about our self-seeking attitudes and how we may come across rude sometimes to even our best friends. As I reminded them last night, the words that come out of our mouths are like toothpaste when you squezze it out of the tube. Once you squeeze it out, there is no way to put it back in. Sometimes we say things that we really do not mean and it is too late to take it back. Remember that the tongue is the hardest thing to tame and it will not only get you in trouble but it can hurt feelings as well. As we started this study several weeks ago, we wrote down three names of people that we have a hard time showing love to, for whatever reason. Let me urge everyone to begin to pray about the people in your life that you are having difficulty trying to love . We cannot change them, we can only show them the love of Jesus Christ. It should be our destination to show people what the LOVE of Jesus Christ really means. HOLLA

THE VALENTINE’S BANQUET

First of all, I would like to thank Braxton and Christy for not only cooking and preparing the food but also doing a great job on the decorations. I want to say thanks to Josh Gentle for being the soloist during the night. I want to thank all the youth that served from the beginning all the way to the end. You guys were awesome. I want to give a special thanks to Molly Hobgood for playing the keyboard most of the night. I am so glad that you let God use you in a very powerful way. I want to thank all the leaders that helped out in the back and out on the floor. I want to thank Joe Brackett for operating the sound system. I want to thank Pastor Bill Hamby and his wife Brittany on the job well done with all the games and all the other activities they had planned for this event. I also want to give a big thanks to our church family. You guys rock !!!! Without you guys, this event could not have happened. Thank you for all the support and the donations that you gave. I can see God really moving in this church in a very powerful way.

Holy Ghost Fuel

First of all, I want to tell you all that the Holy Spirit showed up and showed out today! It started out this morning with a couple of youth in the first service being filled with the Holy Ghost, then it happened again in the second service with an increase of numbers. There were youth speaking in tongues and crying out for Him. The flowing of the Holy Spirit from this morning just poured out tonight in the youth room as we ended our fast. We are so excited about our youth getting on fire for “GOD.” I want to encourage you teens that are filled with the Holy Ghost to continue to pray in tongues in your prayer closet everyday.

Remember our Valentine’s Banquet on Feb. 13 and also our youth trip to ” THE MOVEMENT” which is on Feb. 26 and 27th. Please make sure that you turn your money in by Feb. 3rd if you are going with us. HOLLA

Another awesome night in the youth room. (Jan. 24th) The Holy Spirit began to move thru our room in a mighty and very powerful way. We are seeing lives being changed right before our eyes. Our prayer tonight as a youth group, was that the HOLY SPIRIT would lead, guide and direct us to be more like CHRIST. One of the questions that came up tonight was, how can you forgive someone who keeps hurting you ? We must remember that we should forgive like JESUS forgave us.. His love is unconditional, it is ever lasting and it is REAL ! Youth, we need to be praying and fasting. This is our last week and we need to act like it is a final exam at school, we need to hit the book.

SELL, SELL, SELL- We need to sell all the tickets for the Valentine’s Banquet. The banquet is FEB.13th . Remember that you can sell them to other people that do not go to our church. Also, do not forget about our youth trip to “THE MOVEMENT.” It is on FEB 26 and 27. We will be leaving our church on the 26th, which is on a Friday, at 5 pm.

AS THINGS BEGIN TO HEAT UP

Tonight in youth ( Jan.17.) the flame starts to spread. As our pastor would say,”it was off the chain”. We talked about the definition of “ENVY”. Our scripture came from the book of Galatians 5:26. We talked about how envy prevents you from loving GOD.

One of our youth put it simple for us all to understand. We worry about other’s possessions and even get into their relationships so that we lose focus on everything around us including what GOD has in store for us. We must remember to keep our focus on Him because He holds the prize for our lives. We must remember that ALMIGHTY GOD has a plan and He wants us to be in that plan.

We had one youth that made a huge move tonight and she accepted JESUS CHRIST into her life.”PRAISE THE LORD.“ I told you the flame was spreading!

God is moving in a very powerful way in our youth group and we are so excited about what He has done and what He is planning on doing.. Youth, do not forget about this Sat. at 1 pm. we go hit the ice.. Bring $20.00 to eat and to pay for skate rental. HOLLA!!!
